AntiSocial Surf Club on Tour at LIVE! on Elgin With guests Futura Free & Kaspien
Futura Free: Having just moved to a completely new city without much of a plan, Futura Free was started by Peter Luft in a makeshift studio space in his girlfriend's basement. It didn’t take long for Bobby Benevides (drums) and Gabriel Reeves (synth) to jump onboard, followed by Peter’s longtime collaborator Clinton Baverstock on bass. Combining the catchy hooks of indie rock with the spacey ambience of 80’s synth pop, Futura Free has been staying busy gigging around Ontario and writing material for their third full-length LP.
Kaspien: Kaspien is the indie/art rock music pseudonym of Ottawa-born artist Karim Rostom. With a deep passion for storytelling, Kaspien's first EP, DIVER, explores themes of ocean conservation through the telling of a dark, nautical fable. Pairing striking lyrics with dreamy and emotional melodies, Kaspien's compositions are earnest and filled with purpose. As a composer, Kaspien has scored multiple short films, as well as an award-winning theatrical dance piece (NUIT, dir. Sophie Goyette-Hamels). Kaspien also enjoys live performance, from putting on concerts alongside other musical creatives to showcasing at Jet Black Weekend in November of 2022. Currently, Kaspien is focusing on the production of a collection of songs, interpreting the experiences of significant individuals in his life to explore the importance of compassion in writing.
AntiSocial Surf Club: The first rule of AntiSocial Surf Club is tell your friends about AntiSocial Surf Club. ASSC formed in Kitchener in 2016 and has yet to break up, which is great news if you like their music. Currently they are touring to support their latest release, Canned Jams. From tallest to shortest, ASSC is Dan (bass), Dan (drums), Bennett (guitar), and Matt (vocals)
